The Enemy Property Act, 1968 empowers the Government of India to manage and control properties left behind in India by nationals of enemy countries (such as Pakistan and China) after conflicts, by vesting them with the Custodian of Enemy Property. The Act ensures that such properties—land, buildings, shares, and other assets—cannot be claimed by the original owners or their heirs while the enemy status persists, thereby protecting India’s national interest.
